What have i done?
Today an old fren popped by to visit me in the office. As we talked, the topic of religion was being brought up. This fren of mine has heard the gospel many times, and usually he get quite tense discussing this topic. This time is no exception. Halfway thru the conversation, he looks kinda unhappy and questioned why i was forcing him to believe. I was quite taken aback bcos i dnt think i hv in any way try to force him but merely oppose his beliefs and thots abt religion. I didnt feel quite well abt his comments and decided to send him a sms apologising if i sounded pushy and he replied that he didnt like my style and asked me to respect his stand.
It saddens me not because of my failed "mission" but rather how difficult it is to persuade someone to reconsider his own stand. To me, he's not confident at all of his own belief. In fact, he admitted he wld like to be in control of his own life, though he agreed that he has no full control of it. What contradiction of thots human being has sometimes. It is an irony how for conscience sake, we tried to embrace a religious belief while at the same time, not fully convinced of its teaching.
How confident do you believe in what you believe?
