Happy & Sad December

My internet is finally working after breaking down during the holiday season. I have so much to say, so many things have happened over the past 2 weeks.

First of all, i had a most memorable birthday celebration or rather celebrations. Celebrated 5 times!! Didnt quite expect it, thought it will be quite quiet. The best part of the celebrations is being able to share the time with different groups of friends and people - my colleagues, my ministry people, my stds, my old friends and my church mates. And of course, received lots of presents, but that's beside the point. What was disappointing is the amount of bday cards. I love bday cards but it seems most people dont really write them and even if they did, it's the usual "Have a blessed birthday"!. Not that they are not sincere but i do like people to write beyond that.

Anyway, i did something different for my bday. I kinda "initiated" a party, got my frends to help in preparing (thanks a million, guys!), sang carols, took photos and .. then .. one of my frens suggested we share about our Christmas wish. When it's my turn, i got to share about why we celebrate Christmas and my non-Christian students get to hear a fair bit about Jesus Christ. That was really cool. Hopefully, they do think about Christ over the season.

Just when everyone's hving a great time, we heard over the TV on the killer waves. That was quite a joy killer. The event has set many of us thinking about how unpredictable life can be. One moment u could be enjoying the sea and the next, it engulf you. Man has absolutely lost control! The scene on TV reminded me of a tape i saw on Noah's Ark - the big flood. It became so real all of a sudden. What if my frens were there? What if my family were there? What if i was there? What if it hits Singapore? What if .. what if ..

It's sad that a tragedy has happen. Maybe it is a good time to rethink about our life .. our eternity ..
